Connect your Samsung to your MacBook

One UI is High for background reliability: its default-on “Put unused apps to sleep” is the silent killer for an app you drive from the Mac and rarely open on the phone. The setup below is exactly what Pier’s in-app wizard walks you through on Samsung Galaxy; doing it once is the difference between a link that comes back on its own after every drop and one that “keeps disconnecting.”
Keep Pier connected on Samsung Galaxy — the checklist
- Settings → Battery → Background usage limits → add Pier to “Never sleeping apps,” and make sure it is not under Sleeping / Deep sleeping apps.
- Settings → Apps → Pier → Battery → “Unrestricted.”
- In Recents, lock Pier so the “close all” button skips it.

Why Samsung Galaxy needs this
Samsung’s “Put unused apps to sleep” is on by default, and a deep-sleeping app is fully frozen — no connection, no notification mirror, no reconnect timer — until you next open it. That is the exact wrong behaviour for Pier, which you use from your Mac and rarely tap on the phone. Adding Pier to “Never sleeping apps” exempts it, and locking it in Recents saves it from the reaper. Do those two and One UI is well-behaved.
Tested devices. Pier’s device lab has run a Samsung Galaxy A26 (SM-A266B) through first-run setup, the per-OEM keep-running wizard, the link regressions (V-25, V-28), an incoming text arriving on the Mac (V-02) and an automatic reconnect with no second pairing (V-20, V-21); calls are not verified on it at all — that needs a second SIM-carrying handset we do not have — and both ends of the text round trip were the same handset, so a third-party sender is not proven. Other models in the range are not individually tested. Treat this as the setup guide, not a per-model guarantee — and if Pier can’t hold a stable link on your Samsung Galaxy phone, the 30-day refund is unconditional.
